 Country Risk - Monitoring systems

Objectives | Methodology | Illustrations and reference

This is an area of country risk that TAC did not initially see as a commercial development, but the expertise was developed to ensure the best use of our own country risk service RiskMonitor. Indeed, we realized that our customers wanted to have a permanent and shared access to the relevant information on developing countries, and we invested heavily in our software development capabilities in order to provide a very efficient / user-friendly Web-based system, updated monthly and fully equipped with many useful functionalities (screening, reporting, charts and tables, etc.).

The results were impressive enough to induce a couple of specific requests, by both large corporations and multilateral organizations, to develop specific monitoring systems on emerging economies, which allow the users to have such a shared / permanent / user-friendly access to the information required for management or policy purposes.

The output of such developments are web-based platforms integrated into the customer computer systems (including all security features), combining internal and external information on developing countries (internal information would include turnover, invested capital, margins, profits, staff, etc, while external information would cover risk measures, opportunity information, descriptive figures relevant for the business lines of the customer, etc.), and accessible through the company network with differentiated access authorizations. The tools would include a significant number of quantitative treatments of the information (e.g. cost of capital, exchange rate risks, ROI / ROCE, …) and large functionalities to improve the usefulness of such a monitoring (screening facilities, ranking, mapping, automatic edition of reports, etc.)
